Kenya holiday, wildlife and beaches
Best time to go: The migration is in the Masai Mara from July to October after the long rains have fallen between April and July. Even if the migration is not in the Masai Mara it is still a fantastic reserve to visit with wonderful game viewing and fewer tourists. The warm and dry months of July to October are also the best time to visit the Laikipia Plateau.
The Mara offers amazing game viewing throughout the year and features the annual wildebeest migration in July – September. The camp has only six large tents for a more intimate bush stay and each tent has its own en-suite bathroom with hot bucket showers, wash basins and flushing loos. The spacious tents are all furnished with large, hand made cedar beds, 24 hour solar lighting and the finest linen. This Mara Camp employs and trains local Masai guides and works with the community employing many in the camp staff.
Sosian Ranch: This delightful lodge is located on the renowned Laikipia Plateau and is a private working ranch. The old Ranch House, which has been lovingly restored, takes you back in time to the simple grandeur of a 1940’s ranch home with a spacious dining room, billiards & game rooms and an elegantly furnished sitting room with a large fire place. Breakfast is taken on the expansive veranda and there is also a unique stone swimming pool and pool-house for those that want to enjoy a little relaxation time. There are seven double cottages to accommodate guests and each one is individually styled with 1940’s era ranch furniture and with its ensuite bathroom, with hot shower, bath and flushing loo.
Kizingo: This wonderfully secluded and tranquil beach lodge is a fabulous escape from the modern world. The lodge is situated at one end of a spectacular 12-kilometre beach that stretches from Kizingo (which means 'the point’ in Swahili) to the fashionable village of Shela.
It has eight beautifully appointed bandas (thatched cottages), set well apart from each other. Each banda has a large double bed romantically draped with mosquito netting and comfortable chairs for lounging. Bamboo screens unfurl to give complete privacy. The en suite bathroom is well appointed with a flushing toilet, hot water shower, wash basin and dressing area. It has a rustic feel but is an ideal barefoot hideaway retreat.

How this holiday makes a difference
The camps and lodges that we use on the trip are either semi permanent tented camps that can be removed with no impact on the environment. The lodges we have selected all actively work to reduce their environmental impact as well as working with local communities in a number of projects and development initiatives.
All camps and lodges employ local guides and staff from the areas that you will be travelling to and most camps and lodges pay local community fees for tourism, so your stay directly benefits these communities.
The wildlife areas visited are at the forefront of conservation. The Laikipia Plateau is made up of private ranches and farms where cattle ranching coexist with wildlife and tourism. Farmers are seeing the importance of wildlife and are therefore actively involved in preserving the diversity of wildlife on their land. Animals like cheetah, wild dog and lion have started to return to the area and are now thriving. By visiting these areas you are helping to promote tourism and the wildlife you are there to see.
We aim to minimise our impact on the environmen. We do this through recycling of any office waste including, paper, plastic, cans, glass, refuse, The purpose of our safaris is to contribute to local populations, communities and projects. We give our travellers advice on how to interact with the local population, flora and fauna in order to minimise any negative impact. We advise people not to bargain just for the sake of it and because it is the “thing to do”; you should pay what you feel the object is worth to yourself and the vendor, bearing in mind local cultures, society and standard of living.
